I had the strangest dream

I had the strangest dream last night.

I was attending a music school in the distant future, living in a house with a bunch of other students. Some of the people I was living with were Grindcore and Death Metal fans too. Me and a girl with brown hair (who was a drummer) had strangely detailed conversations about Death Metal drummers and guitarists, we also for some reason spoke at length about Gene Hoglan (specifically his drumming with Strapping Young Lad).

(This is where it gets weird)

After spending some time in this huge house full of musicians I made my way to the campus itself to attend a Q&A with a man who recorded a series of concept albums telling the stories of real people gaining and living with cybernetic limbs and other body parts. Some of these people were present at the Q&A, I sat next to a man who had lost most of his right hand (middle and ring fingers, thumb and most of his palm, his hand must have been sheered in half). The musician’s music sounded like a mix of the sound of the recent Cynic EP with the song structure of the recent Between The Buried and Me EP, it couldn’t have any specific genre associated with it, very minimal vocals, he let the music itself tell the story.

When the Q&A was finished I spoke with the man sitting next to me, he told me more about living with his cybernetic parts. The material that part of his hand was made of resembled smooth black granite but was apparently a metal. I felt the texture of his hand, the cybernetic part was cold but resonated with some kind of energy, the transition of moving my finger from the metal part of his palm to the flesh sent chills down my spine, it was probably what made the most impact in this dream.

I attended the next scheduled Q&A… and that’s when I woke up.

“A keen understanding of life’s brutality is the key to their idealogical art movement. When asked about anything specific influencing their latest work, they simply responded “Poverty and Bass.” — An interview with Death Grips http://fuckinghater.com/hate/?p=3777

One down!

(I’m going to start posting more stuff about life in general (and any games, music or movies I’m into lately), just so I have more to write about.)

One exam down! Two more to go!

Next exam is tomorrow morning, then one on the 23rd!

I haven’t had any time to work on my creative projects this week, going to put them on hold while I revise for exams. :-/

This week I’ve been listening to Exmilitary by Death Grips (Kinda like a dirty, distorted, aggressive breed of alternative hop-hop, hard to explain but not very ‘accessible’). They’re giving the album away for free as well as all of the stems under the title Black Google. On the way home from sitting my exam I was listening to the album and browsing the local record shop for any new Stones Throw releases, until I saw this for 7 pounds:

I just had to pick it up, just for memorabilia.

The day got better when I got home, received a package from my friend Di from Croatia! We have a little gift exchange thing (four of us in total) and her package arrived today! Included were some really comfortable socks, a print of one of her drawings of Lee Hyori <3 and a painting so awesome that I am unwilling to share it with the public… it’s mine! One day I will share!

Reblogs!

I made another tumblr that I can use to reblog stuff.

I hate it when original content is lost in a sea of reblogs and notes from other tumblrs. Until there’s a better solution, I’m going to do this.

(Mainly doing it because I saw an animated gif of Tegan Quin that I just HAVE to share ;_;)

Just for a moment

The longing never ends
Not while you’re human
